What is the ‘Ride for your Rights 2012’ Organisation Committee?
The ‘Ride for your Rights 2012’ Organisation Committee (OC) is the common ESN and Campus Europae organisational body composed of members of the two mentioned student organisations and/or third party members. It is the OC’s task to prepare the spring and summer activities connected with the ‘Ride for your Rights 2012’ project, which is the continuation of the ‘Ride for your Rights! It’s time to (ex)change your life’ project from 2011.
The committee is looking for new members in the following fields of interest
• Fundraising team
• Route developer & security responsible
• Treasurer
• Promotion team
• Press team
• Social media manager
• Accommodation coordinator
• Feedback tracker
• Local ‘Star Movement’ team tutor
• Event coordinator
Positions’ description
1. Fundraising team
One of the most important teams within the Organisation Committee due to its crucial job to find potential sponsors that will support the project. The fundraising team must be the first team recruited as it needs to carry out its work in November and the beginning of December. Two team members will be responsible for finding general sponsors and the third one will be responsible for assisting and advising local teams in finding local sponsors.
Number of free places: 3
Tasks:
- contacting potential sponsors and donors,
- preparing a sponsoring folder which makes Ride for your Rights! attractive for companies and institutions,
- presenting what has been done during last summer and give an overview of the upcoming events with the focus on the May operation,
- sponsoring packages and prices should be worked out according to the costs of the may operation and the summer tour,
- informing the Organisation Committee members about the work progress
Skills required: basic knowledge of fundraising tools and techniques, creativity, good communication skills and good English. The fundraising experience will be an additional asset.
2. Route developer & security responsible
A very responsible position in the Organisation Committee due to the safety and security issues that have to be checked and ensured before the ride will take place.
Number of places: 1
Tasks:
- taking a close look at the proposed route and finding the safest route for the group,
- finding out about safety issues, e.g. whether police escort is required on particular routes, required bicycle equipment, etc.
- contacting the cycling federations and clubs that are based in the area of the route and asking them for logistical and security advice,
- organising route logistic
Skills required: sense of responsibility, good communication skills, basic logistics knowledge.
3. Treasurer
This person is responsible for setting up a Ride for your Rights! account, for the budget, to track costs and distribute expenses in accordance with the project supervisor. Apart from that the person should develop a participation fee plan.
Number of places: 1
Tasks:
- setting up a ‘Ride for your Rights’ project’s account,
- the budget,
- tracking costs and distributing expenses in accordance with the project supervisor,
- developing a participation fee plan,
- informing the Organisation Committee members about the current financial situation
Skills required: basic accounting and finance knowledge. The finance experience will be an additional asset.
4. Promotion team
The promotion team plays a key role for the success of the ‘Ride for your Rights 2012’ project. This team consists of two people from which the first person is responsible for creating information templates about the Luxembourg – Brussels tour in English, which must be easy to translate into other languages. The second person is responsible for promoting the local ‘star movement’ rides. Good promotion can guarantee success.
Number of places: 2
Tasks:
- strict cooperation with the social media coordinator and the press team,
- preparing a proposal for effective promotional materials and taking care of its distribution
- advising and assisting the local teams in proper ‘star movement’ promotional campaign,
- consulting the ideas with the Organisation Committee members
Skills required: basic PR knowledge and experience, good communication skills, creativity, good English
5. Press team
The press team has to cooperate closely with the promotion team. This team consists of two people where the first person is responsible for contacting the media prior, during and after the events and tracking and collecting any printed or online news coverage. The second person is responsible for the blog.
Number of places: 2
Tasks:
- preparing texts for the different media channels,
- contacting newspapers, portals, TV and radio
- informing about the events
- collecting all media coverage
- making sure that riders publish their own stories on ‘Ride for your Rights’ blog
Skills required: creative writing, proficient English. The journal experience will be an additional asset.
6. Social media manager
This person is responsible for publications on our Facebook account and its distribution within Facebook. The aim is not only to publish on our own wall but to post our publications on as many relevant walls of our target group as possible. Regular tweets must also be published. In addition to that, communities and networks such as couch surfing, warm showers, bike forums and communities must be contacted.
Number of places: 1
Tasks:
- publishing on ‘Rights for your Rights’ account
- publishing on Twitter
- contacting the local communities and networks
- posting on regional and local walls
Skills required: good communication skills, good English, basic PR knowledge, creativity.
7. Accommodation coordinator
This person must track registration numbers and communicate with the local teams to tell them the needs of the ‘Ride for your Rights’ group.
Number of places: 1
Tasks:
- booking accommodation for registered riders
- providing information about possible accommodation for people that only attend the events
- consulting the accommodation possibilities with Organisation Committee members
Skills required: good organisation, communication skills, pressure resistance.
8. Feedback tracker
This person has a quite simple task but it does not mean a less important one.
Number of places: 1
Tasks:
- writing questionnaires
- distributing questionnaires to participants and organizers
- evaluating the feedback
Skills required: good English, creativity.
9. Local ‘star movement’ team tutor
This person is responsible for advising and monitoring local teams about the star movement events.
Number of places: 1
Tasks – Person on that position is responsible for:
- advising local teams about the star movement events,
- informing the Organisation Committee about the progress in the local teams’ preparation
Skills required: good organisation skills, good communication skills, good English
10. Event coordinator
This is one of the most important positions in the Organisation Committee due to the responsibility of organising and coordinating the events in Strasbourg, Luxembourg and Brussels. One person should be affiliated with the ESN and the second one with Campus Europae.
Number of places: 2
Tasks:
- developing feasible events in accordance with the Campus Europae office and ESN Vice-President
- managing the events in Strasbourg, Luxembourg and Brussels
- informing the Organisation Committee about the work progress
- cooperating with the Local ‘star movement’ team
Skills required: good organisation, good English, management skills. The experience with organising such events will be an additional asset
